Gaylord Palms Resort has teamed with Travelocity to offer the Hidden Holiday Gnome Hunt, beginning Nov. 18. The new holiday activity will take participants throughout the resort’s 4.5-acre glass-covered atrium to search for 20 cleverly hidden statues of the Travelocity Roaming Gnome. One participant will win a 7-day 6-night Alaskan cruise for two, compliments of Travelocity.
The Christmas gnome, called tomte, is an interesting Swedish Christmas custom. Throughout the year, he stays hidden underneath the house, but at Christmas he emerges carrying a sack of presents over his shoulder. From the sack, he pulls gifts for all the household members
How the Hunt Works:
Use the clues to the right to help location 10 of the gnomes. Remember, the gnomes are tiny... often between 8 inches and 18 inches tall!
To find the gnomes, slowly walk through the Gaylord Palms atrium with your eyes peeled. All gnomes are hidden in plain sight, and can be spotted from public walkways. Remember: you won’t need to climb onto or into anything to find them.
Last year Travelocity partnered with the various Gaylord resorts to follow up their sponsorship in the Amazing race, providing people a chance to hunt for gnomes, just like the contestants on the Amazing race.
Due to the affiliation between Travelocity and CBS for the Amazing race, you can get your own Travelocity gnome – far cheaper at the CBS Store than if you were to buy it in the gift shop at ICE! It’s about half as much online as it is in the gift shop when you come out.
